Our Process

Unforgettable Horseback Riding in Wickenburg

After arriving at the corral, our trained wranglers will pair you with one of our 85 steeds based on personality and individual skill level. They’ll help you up on the horse, adjust your saddle, and teach you the basics on how to handle your paired horse.

Once you’re all set, your wrangler will guide you out into the desert on a 2-hour excursion where you’ll see breathtaking views of the vast Sonoran Desert. Unique landscapes, diverse wildlife, and sweeping mountain ranges are just a few sights you’ll see under the warm desert sun.

Beginners are recommended to try our slower, nature rides where you’ll be taught all about the surrounding desert flora and fauna. Intermediate and advanced riders can try their hand at longer, more advanced trails and even lope while traversing the sandy desert floors.

Travel Tips

At Rancho de los Caballeros, we put our guests’ safety above all else. Before heading out for a day of desert fun, read these quick tips on how to stay safe. We’ll catch you on the trail!

  • Hydrate, wear a hat with a brim, and apply sunscreen.
  • Don’t poke cacti or critters.
  • Enjoy the scenery and leave nature be.
  • Low humidity and light breeze make for nice conditions but the possibility of dehydration.

Be sure to check the calendar and sign-up in advance with the concierge!

Frequently Asked Questions

What Should I Wear While Riding?

Long pants, close-toed shoes, long sleeve shirts are preferred, if you’re wearing a hat it should be very snug and have a stampede string and helmets are provided at the corral.

How Should I Act Around the Horses?

Don’t run or scream (this could scare our horses!), always walk in front of the horse, horses like to be petted on the neck and shoulders and treats should not be fed by hand.

What Should I Bring on My Ride?

Not much is needed to enjoy your time at the corral but plenty of water, sunblock (applied before the ride), and a good attitude are all recommended! Cell phones are permitted on rides.

I’ve Never Ridden a Horse Before, Will I Be OK?

Yes! Our horses are suited for all level riders from no experience to seasoned horsemen and women. There are plenty of kid horses to go around from ages 4 and up.

Do I have to Sign Up for Horse Activities Before I Get There?

You do not have to schedule rides before arriving. However, during our busy times of the season, some activities have limited availability and can fill up fast. It is recommended that you check with the corral during the week of your stay to ensure there is availability for everything you’d like to participate in.
